Paaaaaancakes

I hope nobody forgot about Pancake Day yesterday. I nearly did, but Jack text me on Monday night to remind me (we take pancakes very seriously around here). It wasn't even on my calendar though, can you believe that? Ash Wednesday was noted down, but no Pancake Day. It didn't even say Shrove Tuesday. I was outraged; how else am I supposed to remember?

But anyway, the crisis was averted because at least Jack was on the ball, and yesterday he sent a text from work checking that we had everything we needed topping wise, and we had the following exchange:

He showed up with one of those squeezy ready made lemon juice things anyway, and when I held it up at him and raised my eyebrows he just shot me a look and said, "Just in case." Pretty sure he thinks I'm some sort of lemon nazi now. I was right though - we only used one.

The long and short of it though, is that I really, really love pancakes. So much so that I might make them again this weekend. (Although when I say "I", what I mean is that I will make Jack make them for me - he's the resident pancake maker. I squeeze the lemons and offer moral support. It's a tough job but someone's got to do it.)

Currently reading: Still The Ship of Magic but I accidentally stalled on it because I forgot to charge my kindle so started re-reading Harry Potter from the beginning so I'm trying to read both. It's not going well.

A list. And pancakes.

I did start writing a belated Valentine's Day post on Monday, but I didn't finish it. It's too late now. It can sit in my drafts until next year. Or forever. Who knows. I couldn't finish it and post it yesterday obviously because yesterday was the most sacred of all the days: Pancake Day. Any day that makes it socially acceptable to eat pancakes for dinner is definitely a winner in my book.

Anyway, here's a list of some of the things that I find ridiculously overrated. Haters gonna hate, hate, hate...

  1. Pulp Fiction
  2. Actually, Quentin Tarantino films in general.
  3. Nando's
  4. Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars - it's not even that catchy a song, I don't get the appeal.
  5. Breaking Bad - don't get mad! I don't mind it, I haven't even finished it yet, I'm only on series 2 but honestly I find it kind of slow moving and hard to get into. Maybe it gets better? I'll persevere.
  6. Champagne (sorry Mum)
  7. Looking for Alaska by John Green. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed it but I don't quite think it lived up to all of the hype it got. Paper Towns and The Fault in our Stars were much better, in my humble opinion.
  8. Frozen - I actually really like Frozen but holy moly it's so over-hyped and it's everywhere, all the time.
And now, in honor of Pancake Day, a video of someone making pancakes shaped like characters from The Walking Dead, how cool!

Lazy Saturdays

My Saturday started the way all good mornings begin. With pancakes.

Not made by me of course. I supervised while Jack made them. I had a very important role.

Although in fact, my morning began long before the pancakes were made. I had a text just after 7 to say that my ASOS delivery (which I ordered last night at about 8.45 - what service!) would be arriving between 7.30 and 8.30am. As soon as it was delivered, I promptly went back to bed, naturally, and so didn't get a good look at what I had ordered until a couple of hours later. I got a few things, most were in the sale with a couple of tops that weren't, but I'm a happy bunny. Everything fits and is comfy and lovely.

My favourite from my ASOS haul is this waterfall cardigan.

It's so cozy and warm, and it's going to be ideal for those inbetweeny days when it's not cold enough for a coat but there's still a chill in the air. It's a bit too thick for wearing inside (unless your heating is broken, in which case it would be perfect), but it's best for going out in anyway - it's a cardigan that demands to be seen!

Hat: Dorothy Perkins
Cardigan: ASOS
T-Shirt: Dorothy Perkins
Jeans: Marks and Spencer
Shoes: Dorothy Perkins

Actually, when I saw the cardigan on the ASOS website, I had this exact outfit in mind, so I'm really glad that it works in real life too and not just in my head, haha.

Anyway, I'm going to spend the rest of my day relaxing, maybe tweaking my blog design a bit, and probably watching more of Merlin (it's so good!).

Happy Saturday!

To Lent or not to Lent

I hope everyone enjoyed Pancake Day. I most certainly did, Daf makes awesome pancakes. Except for the first one, for some reason the first pancake always becomes incredibly mangled. It still tastes great, but it just looks a bit pathetic. I have my pancakes properly, with lemon juice and sugar. None of these maple syrup and bacon concoctions.

Anyway, Lent officially starts today, and I can't decide whether or not to give something up. I don't usually, and everytime I have in the past I always fail miserably. My willpower isn't that great. Whenever I've given it a go, I've attempted to give up chocolate, but after about a week I've been like, "I haven't had any chocolate in so long, I am going to reward myself with this 6-pack box of Creme Eggs". I don't think I've ever lasted the whole 40 days. Not even once.

So I've been trying to think of something I do a lot of that I could give up. The only thing I could really think of was giving up drinking tea, because that would be really hard. I really love tea. Then I remembered that I had a cup of tea this morning, but I suppose I could just start it from now. But then I'd probably just start replacing tea with coffee and hot chocolate. I suppose I could just cut out all hot drinks, but I really don't want to do that. It's painful just to think about it.

I guess I won't be doing Lent this year.
