Jack and I went to see the new Star Trek on Sunday. It was good, very go go go. All in all, I think my favourite character is Bones because he does his job and gets on with what he's supposed to do and everything but he literally complains about it the entire time and I relate to that on a spiritual level.
I had a point with this blog post. It was going to go somewhere, I'm sure of it.
Me saying that I'd been to the cinema can't have been the only thing I wanted to say.
Surely not.
Well, this is embarrassing.
Okay, well, in other news, my parents went away for a few days and the only present they brought back for me was the tea-bags from their hotel room. Fancy tea-bags, but still. I was shocked and appalled, too.
I genuinely can't remember what my purpose was with this so I'll leave it there for now. I'm sure it'll come to me at some point.

I'm a winner
I normally wait until the 1st of December to put up the Christmas decorations, but I caved this year and roped Jack into helping me put them up on Saturday night. There's something about a Christmas tree that really ties a room together. After we had finished, we put on our PJs, had some mulled cider and watched Home Alone with the fire on. It was great.
Yesterday was very productive, despite it being Sunday. I finished NaNoWriMo! Well, I didn't finish my story, but I reached 50,000 words, so technically I'm a winner and I'll take that. Jack had a headache and lay down on the sofa feeling sorry for himself all afternoon so I turned the telly on and had The Little Mermaid on in the background while I wrote. Which probably wasn't the best idea because that movie actually makes me really angry. I hope I'm not alone in thinking this, but Ariel is a moron. I mean, no offense, but she really, really is. Why would you give up being a mermaid (I really wanted to be a mermaid when I was a kid) for some bland, boring prince that you know nothing about? She's not in love with Eric, she's infatuated, and it's borderline creepy. The only one to make any sense in the whole movie is Sebastian - "Ariel, listen to me. The human world ... It's a mess"- and he gets completely ignored. Not to mention that only two of the songs are even any good! Sorry, apparently I have a lot of opinions about The Little Mermaid. You know what you should watch for a much better interpretation of the story, featuring love in its most innocent and pure form instead? Ponyo. I love Ponyo.
I went off on a tangent there, but I think I made some valid points. But I was talking about NaNoWriMo, and how I finished it! Good for me. And a day early, too. I'm pretty chuffed about it. I think now I just need to not look at it for a little while, and then I can finish it, and then I can go back through and edit. I might just rewrite the whole thing, change things around and make it better. But that's getting ahead of myself, so we'll see.
Here's to getting stuff done!
Song of the Day: Don't Think Twice It's Alright by Bob Dylan (I ain't saying you treated me unkind/ You could have done better but I don't mind/ You just kinda wasted my precious time/ But don't think twice, it's alright)

Little Updates
I had a visitor yesterday.
He kindly stuck around long enough for me to grab my camera and sneak outside to take a couple of pictures, and then when I looked up from my camera display, he had vanished. So long, friend.
In getting my camera to photograph my little fox pal, I finally got around to moving photos onto my laptop, which means a select few of the Newquay ones will be up at some point. There's some great ones, Newquay is beautiful. So watch this space for those. Or don't, whatever. I'm not the boss of you.
I recently read the entire Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor and I loved it so much (excellent recommendation, thank you Lydia). Here's some mini extracts (non-spoilery).

I recently read the entire Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor and I loved it so much (excellent recommendation, thank you Lydia). Here's some mini extracts (non-spoilery).
"Where I come from, old man, a soul's as useless as teeth to the dead."
"Spoken, I think, by one who still remembers what it was like to have one."
Akiva did remember. His memories were knives, and he was not pleased to have them turned against him. "You should worry about your own soul, not mine."
"My soul is clean. I've never killed anyone. But you, oh you. Look at your hands."
- Daughter of Smoke and Bone
"Mercy breeds mercy as slaughter breeds slaughter. We can't expect the world to be better than we make it."
- Days of Blood and Starlight
The two of them were stoic and stone-faced and ten feet apart, currently not even looking at each other, but Zuzanna had the impression of a pair of magnets pretending not to be magnets.
Which, you know, only works until it doesn't.
- Dreams of Gods and Monsters
They were right up my street, I really enjoyed them. Also they have what is maybe my new favourite fictional friendship in Karou and Zuzanna, I loved their dynamic.
In other news, I've seen a few new (to me - two of them are actually old) films. I watched Love, Rosie on Netflix which is your standard predictable romance, but fairly enjoyable nonetheless. The other two are both Studio Ghibli ones. Firstly, Laputa Castle in the Sky which is adorable and I really loved. The second one was Grave of the Fireflies which I knew enough about to know that it was going to be sad, but holy hell, it is potentially the most upsetting movie I have ever seen. I sobbed. And I am not known for sobbing.
Music wise, I have been listening to a lot of soundtracks, namely from Princess Mononoke and Braveheart. But also, Stevie Wonder and Adam Lambert (I can't get Another Lonely Night out of my head.)
Song of the Day: Soul Meets Body by Death Cab for Cutie (And I do believe it's true/That there are roads left in both of our shoes/But if the silence takes you then I hope it takes me too)
Sensitive soul
I was a sensitive soul when I was a child. Sad movies, songs and books used to always make me cry. I vividly remember going into my room and sobbing inconsolably after watching Dragonheart (remember that movie, with Sean Connery playing a dragon? It was great). However, somewhere down the line, I stopped getting so teary about things. I don't mean that I became I robot or anything and stopped feeling things. I still acknowledged the sad scenes in movies, like when Jack dies in Titanic (I don't mean to spoil it for anyone but come on, Titanic is about a million years old now), I just for some reason didn't get as upset by things like this anymore. This went on for years and years. Until now, apparently.
Recently, I feel like I've been getting teary eyed a lot. I think perhaps I've just watched/listened to a lot of sad (or at least moving) films and songs lately. For instance, in the last month I've watched The Fault in our Stars (sad), Les Miserables (it's called that for a reason people), The Theory of Everything (incredibly moving) and The Book Thief (very sad). Also, I was listening to the Wicked soundtrack the other day and when For Good came on, I very nearly bawled.
However, would you like to know the most recent thing to make me cry? This song from An American Tail.

I don't know what's happening to me.

2013 Favourites
As we've started a brand new year, I thought I'd do a little round-up of my favourite things from 2013.
Outfit Posts
In general this was quite a disappointing year in terms of outfits because I didn't blog nearly as many as I would have liked to. A lot of my favourite items of clothing from 2013 actually didn't feature on the Emma Wears blog at all. But of the few posts that did go up, these were my favourites.
1. It's still sunny
2. Hey there!
3. Winter's back
4. Maxi skirts
Also, honourable mention goes to The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013). It's fantastic. Obviously, there's extra plot details that are nowhere in the book and it's constantly trying to link to Lord of the Rings, but you've just got to embrace the waffley-ness (definitely a word) and enjoy the ride. Plus Smaug is genuinely quite terrifying.

Movies
Some of these are movies that came out in 2013, and there's a few others that I just watched for the first time last year. I saw quite a lot, but these are the ones that stand out (for good reasons!).
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013) - I was a little bit wary of this initially because I thought they might move some of the plot into the next film as it's going to be split into two, so I thought it might be really slow moving with not much happening. Happily, I loved it. It was much better than the first film (which I enjoyed anyway). I'm just a bit worried about Mockingjay now though because I didn't enjoy the book as much as the first two!

Frozen (2013) - Pixar's latest offering. I absolutely loved it, possibly on a par with how much I loved Tangled (which is a lot!) Just your standard really good fun disney film.
Monster's University (2013) - Well worth the wait. It's the supporting characters in this that make it so great.
Blackfish (2013) - This is a documentary about Tilikum, the Killer Whale at Seaworld who killed one of the trainers. It examines how safe you realistically can ever be when you work so closely with an animal in it's own environment, but even more than that it just shows what a shady company Seaworld is in general. Well worth a watch, definitely an eye-opener if you were ever thinking of going to Seaworld.
Thor 2 (2013) - I love the comic book movie adaptations (well, most of them), and this sequel was great, everything you need from a trip to the cinema really!
Warm Bodies (2013) - I really love zombie movies, and this one is a lovely different take on the standard zombie movies. It's also got a cracking soundtrack.
Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (2011) - This is cheating a bit because I technically watched this in 2014, but I'm including it anyway. Just a really lovely little film. Plus, Ewan McGregor.
Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2 (2010 and 2013) - I was a bit late to the party with Despicable Me because I didn't get around to watching even the first one until quite late this year, but now it's one of my all time favourites, and the second one is just as good. I've even got a minion phone cover now.
Like Crazy (2011) - This follows the love story of a couple who get separated after Anna overstays her visa in America to be with him and then gets deported. It's not always particularly uplifting, but it's really well written and I really enjoyed it.
T.V. Shows
Firefly - Just think of it as cowboys in space. I started watching this on Netflix last year and I became hooked, so I was bitterly disappointed when I realised it only ran for one series before getting cancelled. There's a film too, Serenity which kind of gives you some kind of closure.
Adventure Time - A cartoon about a boy, Finn and his best friend Jake, a talking and magical dog. It's wonderfully weird and funny, and if you pay attention properly it also has important life lessons.
Game of Thrones - I fully jumped on the GoT bandwagon in 2013 and cannot wait until the next series comes out. When will that be?!
The Walking Dead - I'm relatively new to this show. I'd wanted to give it a try for a while (because Zombies, obviously) but just never ended up getting around to it. I'm only just over halfway through series 2 so I've got a lot of catching up to do but it really is compulsive watching.
New Girl - This really is one of the best sitcoms to come out in ages. Just really light hearted and funny, and none of the characters annoy me which makes a change.
The Office (U.S) - I feel like if I was to do this kind of a round-up every year, The Office would make it back onto the list every year too. I can re-watch episode after episode and not get bored, I love it so much.
Modern Family - Phil Dunphy. Need I say more?

Lately...
Want to know what I've been up to? Of course you do.
Reading:
Not a lot to be honest, except for blogs. I stopped reading Linger for a bit. I was going to start it again last night but my Kindle needed recharging so I went to sleep instead.
Watching:
Game of Thrones. I finished series 2 last night and now I'm really mad that I don't have Sky Atlantic to watch series 3. I'm super excited that the second series of New Girl has started on E4 now as well, I love that show. I've also seen a few new (to me) films; What To Expect When You're Expecting (pretty funny), The Social Network (which I liked much more than I thought I would), Adventureland (I unexpectedly hated it, despite loving the cast), Breaking Dawn Part 2 (which was obviously shit), and The Woman In Black (which was ok, but it's one of those films where you're constantly having to watch the background for the spooky stuff - it's still pretty jumpy though. Unfortunately it was hard to find Daniel Radcliffe believable as a Dad. Plus he's Harry Potter.)
Listening To:
Tegan and Sara, Bastille, Frank Turner, Justin Timberlake and Jamie T.
Planning:
A holiday to be booked soon I hope. Also, deciding on what to do for my birthday in June and hopefully going to visit my friend at some point. Also, looking forward to warmer weather (which seems to be on its way) so that I can just sit around in the garden and do nothing.

A tale of insomnia
Last night I felt a little bit poorly when I got into bed, so was finding it difficult to get to sleep. So I got my i-pod and put on The Silver Seas because their songs are so gentle that I thought it would help me sleep. And I was right, when the album finished, I turned off my i-pod and was feeling nice and relaxed, and was just about to drift off when inexplicably, the scene from The NeverEnding Story when Atreyu's horse drowns in the mud popped into my head. Suddenly, I'm not only wide awake, but filled with sadness from this movie scene which traumatised my childhood.
So anyway, after that, I drove myself crazy trying to think of the horse's name (it's Artax, I had to look it up today - I just couldn't think of it). Then I started humming along to the score of the movie in my head, and all of a sudden it was nearly 4am and I was still awake.
I hate nights like that. But I now really want to watch The NeverEnding Story.
Song of the Day: NeverEnding Story by Limahl. It seemed appropriate.
Currently reading: Linger. I accidentally lied in my last post, I was still reading Shiver but I got the titles mixed up.

Halloweeeeen
I used to love Halloween when I was a kid. Trick-or-Treating was the best and dressing up was fun. I haven't done anything for Halloween in years though, I kind of hate fancy-dress now, I'm not really sure why. Tonight I shall be at work anyway so no Halloween plans.
Last night I made a cake. Well, kind of. I cheated, thank you very much Betty Crocker. But man is it good.
I wanted to make it Halloween themed but then I realised all I had to decorate it with were chocolate buttons. But it is scarily unhealthy so I guess that counts. The amount of frosting on it is ridiculous. It's so yummy though.
Also, I bought Empire magazine the other day because of this cover:
It's 3D which I guess doesn't really translate in a photograph but it's so cool! I'm going to stick it on my wall, it'll probably really freak me out if I wake up in the middle of the night though. They've got 5 different covers of different characters from The Hobbit and I really want them all but at a fiver a piece I think it's a bit much.
Finally, here's a link to the best celebrity Halloween costumes (apparently, some of them are a bit rubbish). I think Heidi Klum and Seal officially have all the best costumes though!
Happy Halloween everyone!

Mellow Monday
After one of the worst weekends at work that I can remember in a long time, it's nice to have a day off to put my feet up (which is actually necessary because they are in so much pain). My parents are currently about a week into their holiday in San Francisco. I am insanely jealous, especially with this horrendous weather we've been having. The sun did come out for a bit over the weekend (whilst I was working, naturally), but it has been pouring down all day so far so summer is still yet to arrive in the UK. Which is annoying, as we're now halfway through July.
Speaking of being halfway through July, that means I should have read more than half of the books on my 30 books list for this year. I am nowhere near halfway through. In fact, I'm still reading It, which is rather lengthy and Stephen King seems to be taking an awfully long time getting to the point. I think I'm going to have to start reading several books at once to make any sort of dent in the list. I probably should have picked 15 books instead. Oh well, hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Last week I went to see the new Spiderman movie, which was awesome and not just because Andrew Garfield is oh-so pretty. I also watched Never Let Me Go the other night and then my heart broke into a million tiny pieces.
And finally, this is currently my favourite video on the internet.

Lately I've been...
Reading: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. This was one of the books I was most looking forward to reading out of my 30 books, and so far I haven't been disappointed. It's been a bit slow-going so far (I'm not even halfway yet, oh dear), but when I started it I didn't get a chance to read it much because I wasn't at home, and since then I've only been able to read a chapter or two a night, but I'm going to crack on with it this week.
Watching: Channel 5 have picked up that American show Once Upon A Time and so I started watching that the other night. Initially I wasn't too sure because it just seemed a tad ridiculous, but I persevered and now I'm a little bit in love with it. There's just something so endearing about it, even if it is a bit cheesy/cringeworthy at times. And hey, Robert Carlyle makes a pretty creepy Rumpelstiltskin.
Other than Once Upon A Time, Daf and I are still slowly making our way through Prison Break and The Office (the American version). I love Jim and Pam, they've got to be one of the best written TV couples ever.
Oh, and also, I went to see The Avengers on Tuesday and it is fantastic. Well, it is if you like superheroes, aliens, explosions and stuff. And I do.
Listening to: Nothing obscure, a lot of Blur and The Kooks at the moment. Oooh, and also Two Door Cinema Club, I really love them.
Laughing at: The tumblr blog Sims Gone Wrong. It's basically full of screenshots of glitches in the game that cause some hilarious and also terrifying sims. Check it out for more, but here are some of my favourites.
Frightening stuff.
Looking forward to: My birthday next month, because the Harry Potter studio tour tickets arrived in the post the other day which got me SUPER excited. I hope there is a gift shop so I can buy Harry Potter merchandise.

I am still bad at reading
I still haven't finished The Hobbit. The problem is I've only been reading a chapter or so before I go to sleep, and not every night, so whilst I am technically close to finishing, I'm not getting very far by rarely picking it up. Come on Emma, sort it out.
Daf and I went to see The Hunger Games yesterday, I'd really recommend it, it's so good. Probably one of the best book-to-movie adaptations I've ever seen, whilst at the same time not being confusing for anyone who hasn't read the book. (Although if you haven't read the books you totally should).
I've got a little photography challenge in the pipeline for April which I'm pretty excited about, plus that would mean that I would blog everyday in April. Anyway, I'll say more about that when I've finalised everything about it.

Dipstick is a great word
I went to the cinema today with my Mum and Daf. Mum and I watched One Day whilst Daf opted for The Inbetweeners (which I still really want to see - wasn't too sure what Mum would make of it though!). Apart from a problem with the picture at the start (it was too big for the screen and the top and bottom of the picture was cut off), One Day was really good. I read the book (by David Nicholls) in near enough one day, ironically enough. I only got it on Wednesday and really wanted to read it before we saw the film, and luckily I managed to finish it - I'd definitely recommend it.
After the cinema, we went into town to a Thai restaurant, which was lovely. In the car on the way home, as my Mum was overtaken on a residential street for the third time, she said: "Another dipstick! That's three dipsticks today!" Dipstick is her favourite word to describe other drivers. I love my mother.
Anyway, I've now got five days of work in a row to look forward too. Maybe everyone will feel sorry for me working Bank Holiday weekend and tip really generously. One can only hope...

It's not you, it's me
Actually it's not even me. Since getting back from holiday I've had internet issues which were resolved this morning by a technician man sent over from Virgin who told us that the reason we couldn't connect to the internet was because one of the wires for the modem wasn't screwed in. As the technician re-attached it with pliers, I'm at a loss as to how it came out in the first place. But never mind, I'm back online and all is well.
Turkey was awesome. So very very hot, but nice and lazy and great food. I made a friend in the form of a cat who stayed on our villa patio for the whole week (and is still there, according to my parents). I called her Lenny, just because. We played a lot of Rummikub (or 'Plastik Okey' as it is called in Turkey), and I only won once, but got hardly any points. By the end of the week I was last by quite a margin with an impressive score of about -190. It's okay though, because as anyone who knows me will tell you, I am a very gracious loser...
Since I got home I have worked lots, and on Monday I went to see the final Harry Potter. I may have shed a tear or two. It was so good, I loved it.
Next time I will post some Turkey photos, and if you're lucky I might share the story of that time when my Dad had to kill a snake with a spade.

Rainy rain
It's raining. And according to the weather report, it'll be raining for the next few days off and on. Which is a pain, because I go on holiday to Turkey at the end of next week and it would be quite nice to not be blindingly pale when I get there.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 comes out on the day we fly, so we'll have to wait until we're back to go and see it. Nevertheless, I'm super excited to watch it. A bit sad as well, because it is the last one, but it does look pretty epic. And the critics actually like it apparently, which never happens. So it'll probably be shit now. (Only joking - well, I hope so).
My parents are having the dining room re-decorated at the moment. The wallpaper is all up, so there's just the new carpet to be fitted tomorrow, and then we have the joyous task of moving all the furniture back in. I currently have dining room chairs in my bedroom. I'm a bit miffed because my Mum didn't listen to any of my suggestions on the colour scheme. She didn't like the idea of purple and gold, and Wolves colours were a definite no-no. I can't understand why she wasn't more open to the idea.
Orange and black, very soothing tones.
Speaking of re-decorating, I was watching Homes Under the Hammer this morning, and my favourite part is naturally when they go back and see what people have done with the houses, flats or plots that they have purchased at the auction. However, in today's episode, there was a garage or something on a plot that had planning permission to build a 3-bedroom house on it, but when the camera crew returned to see the progress, the man who'd bought it had decided not to build the house because of the current market and had re-sold the land instead, so all that had happened was the garage (or whatever it was) had been demolished. I was peeved, to say the least. I hate it when they go back and nothing has happened, I don't think they should include lots like that on the program because it's really irritating to the viewer (i.e. me). In fact, I might write a letter to the BBC and complain. Except I won't really. But it is annoying.

Results Day!
I have a degree! I am the very proud owner of a 2:1 in History. Relieved doesn't even begin to cover it. I woke up at about 6am, and checked to see if the results were up on my phone, which they weren't, so I struggled to get back to sleep. When I finally did, I had a horrible dream where I only got 2 marks for my dissertation, but it wasn't telling me what I had overall, so I didn't know if I'd passed my degree or not. I woke up thinking it was real and I couldn't understand how it was possible that I'd only got 2 marks - then of course I realised it was a dream, checked the time and it was only 7.45am. And I still had no results. They finally appeared on my student record at about half 8 and so I was pretty chuffed not to have failed.
Daf and I celebrated in great style by going to see Transformers 3 at the cinema. It was good; a bit long, but good. Although, when you've got ROBOTS and EXPLOSIONS and SHIA LABEOUF you can't really go wrong. Because of the teachers' strike, there were quite a few kids in the cinema and I ended up sitting next to one who kept talking to his brother/mate next to him and eating his popcorn really loudly. As it got nearer the end, I think he started to really need the loo because he kept jigging up and down in his chair and swinging his legs around. He was kicking his chair which impacted my chair and I really wanted to punch him in the face (except not really because he was just a kid, but my point is that it was really annoying). This is why children should not be allowed to go to the cinema. Also it was the middle of the day on a Thursday, I know there's strikes, but couldn't they have been given enough homework to last the whole day? Education these days...
Anyway, now I'm writing this while Daf's hoovering for me. I had to give up my rights to the last cookie in order to get him to do it, but I think on the whole everyone's happy with the arrangement. Later, we're going to watch Star Wars: Return of the Jedi because that's how we roll.

I've just ordered my cap and gown for graduation, so that's all very exciting. I couldn't find a tape measure to measure my head, but I did find one of those things you use to measure the length of a room or a doorway or something. They don't work as well because they don't really bend, but I'm reasonably confident in my guesstimation. Besides, a reliable friend informed me that there are spare hats on the day, so I'm not too worried.
The company I had to order from sent me an email with all the information I needed, and at the top of the email it said this:
Right, okay. Please print, I'll be sure to do that. Underneath this was my reference number, a record of my payment and other confirmation details. Then, at the bottom was this:
Well, now I'm confused. I checked just in case this footer was a hotmail related thing, but it is actually from the graduation gown company place. Now I feel like I'm in a lose-lose situation. I have to print the email, but I'm going to get judged for it. I don't need judgemental emails in my life.
In other news, I miss Lost. I've been watching some of the special features on the DVDs to try and fill the void, but it's not quite the same. Sigh.
Oh, and just before I go, I've finally watched Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End which is the third one (bit behind the times, I know), and I literally had no idea what was going on for most of it, and I can't believe they gave Will and Elizabeth such a sad ending. I won't say what happens in case I get accused of ruining it for someone, but seriously, you're better off giving it a miss, it's awful. It's so awful that not even Jack Sparrow could save it, and I love Jack Sparrow.
That being said I still want to see the new one because Will and Elizabeth aren't in it and there's MERMAIDS involved I think.

Alexander: A Review
The night that I stayed up until 4am doing last minute dissertation related things, Alexander the movie about Alexander the Great was on acting as my background noise. I had several problems with this movie that I am going to share with you. Without further ado, here is my review of Alexander.
*Disclaimer: As I was paying very little attention, this review will be wholly inaccurate because I actually have no idea what the plot was - from what I can gather, there's some fighting and a lot of Colin Farrell being really weird.*
I was also going to complain about the fact that Alexander was blond, but Wikipedia tells me that he was, in fact, blond and of a pale complexion. See, I do my research.
Here concludes my Alexander review. Next week: Troy.
(I'm only joking. I probably won't review Troy. Also, I'm aware that this by no means constitutes a 'review' so if you're genuinely interested in a review of Alexander, this probably won't help you and I suggest you look elsewhere.)
*Disclaimer: As I was paying very little attention, this review will be wholly inaccurate because I actually have no idea what the plot was - from what I can gather, there's some fighting and a lot of Colin Farrell being really weird.*
- First of all, Angelina Jolie playing Colin Farrell's mother is the most ridiculous casting ever, plus it didn't look like much effort had been made to make her look older.
- Second, wasn't Alexander the Great Greek, and not Irish? I know that Colin Farrell is Irish, but maybe a neutral accent could have been used or something. Plus Angelina was trying to do a Greek accent (I think that's what it was at least), so it all just sounded very odd. Bit of consistency would have been nice.
- I think there might have been incesty (is that a word) undertones between Alexander and his mum. Which is always weird.
- Anthony Hopkins narrating the film just made me think of The Grinch.
- Why does no one in Greece look Greek?
- Finally, it's like 3 hours long or something. If you want to watch a 3 hour film, I'd suggest Titanic, or one of The Lord of the Rings films.

Song of the Day: Rumour Has It by Adele
She made your heart melt/But you're cold to the core/Now rumour has it she ain't got your love anymore
Procrastinating? Me?
....Never.
Only joking, procrastinating is exactly what I'm doing. My mind is a swirl of dissertation (I hate hate hate it), but it is SO close to being out of my life. So that I don't have to think too much, this blog-post is going to be made up of some of my favourite movie quotes.
In no particular order:
Martin, it's all psychological. You yell barracuda, everybody says, "Huh? What?" You yell shark, and we've got a panic on our hands on the fourth of July. - Jaws
That ain't no Etch-a-Sketch. This is one doodle that can't be un-did, homeskillet. - Juno
I think we both said some things we didn't mean, like... when you broke up with me... on my b-day. - Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist
You don't know what it's like to be straight, OK? It's awful. - Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist

Sam: It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you, that meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.
Frodo: What are we holding onto, Sam?
Sam: That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for. - The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Marriage is like a tense, unfunny version of Everybody Loves Raymond, only it doesn't last 22 minutes. It lasts forever. - Knocked Up
There's loads more but that'll do for now, my brain has ceased to function.
