I don't know what day: Shadow

Well, I think it's fair to say I've failed my 30 day challenge. Since my last post I've only taken one photo for it. In my defense, the weather has been appalling, and so I haven't been able to get a sunset photo, and I didn't really want to get up in the pouring rain for an early morning photo. Never fear though, I'm still going to finish it, just in my own time now. No pressures. Hooray! Anyway, here's a shadow photo.

If you're interested, here's what I've done and what I've got left to do:

Here are some more snaps I've managed to take. The first one is of a fox in the garden, I didn't
actually take it, Daf did, I wasn't there. I have been seeing lots of foxes around though lately.

And here's the ones I took.

Squirrels are awesome.

A somewhat late Day 14: Animals

I have just got in from work and I realised I had completely forgotten to post today's photos, sorry sorry sorry!

The first one is actually just a zoomed in version of the bird photo I took yesterday, I thought it was pretty cool.

Then the ones I actually took today of a squirrel. I was so lucky to get these because squirrels are fast and don't hang around for too long!

Isn't he the cutest?

Anyway, time for bed I think!

Day Eleven: My stuffed animals

[One]

[Two]

[Three]

[Four]
One: My stuffed toys, sitting on top of my very dusty wardrobe, poor things. I really should get them down and have a good dust!

Two: This little platypus (who I called Platy) was bought in the gift shop at Taronga Zoo in Sydney. My dad and I had really wanted to see the platypuses (platypi?), but when we got to their enclosure, they were nowhere to be seen, so we came to the conclusion that they don't really exist. Then I bought Platy because he's probably the closest I'm ever going to get to seeing a real platypus.

Three: Sid the zebra!

Four: Bear (left) and Duncan. Daf bought me Duncan the first Christmas we were together (awww), and we got Bear a couple of years ago because he's really cool with his little scarf!

I'm a big fan of my cuddly toys, I don't think I'll ever be able to get rid of any of them.

Anyway, moving away from my photo challenge for a moment, I'm now genuinely concerned that I won't finish my 30 books challenge this year. It's just a lot more books than I thought it was going to be. I'm wishing I had made it only 10 books, then I'd be almost finished by now! I'm going to persevere with it though, because either way, I've already read more books so far this year than I did in 2011 (not counting re-reads). The whole point of this was to get me reading more books that I haven't read before, so at the very least I'll have accomplished that. Reading this back, I seem so defeatist which I don't mean to be. I'm not giving up yet, I reckon it's still just about do-able!

Animal Madness

This morning I was rudely awakened by a Blue Tit which had managed to defy logic and fly in through my barely open window. The curtains are really thick and this bird was tiny so it was trapped on the window-sill. I kept hearing flapping wings as it tried to get out, but it was obviously having trouble. Daf was still asleep so I woke him up.

"Daf. There's a bird on the window-sill."
"That's not possible."
"Well, there's something on the window-sill."

He got up to investigate because I was scared that there was an eagle behind the curtains. Or at least a huge pigeon. I told Daf not to open the curtains because I was worried the bird would start flying all over the room and shit everywhere. So he peeked through the crack in the curtain and said, "Aww, it's a tiny little Blue Tit." He opened the window further and managed to guide it out quite quickly which was good because apparently little birds can get really flustered and then have a heart attack and die, and a dead bird is the last thing I need on a Monday morning.

After that, Daf saw a squirrel knock something ceramic off next-door's bird table and break it, then he scarpered with his mate. Vandals.

In other news, I keep looking at all the Christmas gifts on websites and it's getting me ridiculously excited. How soon can I listen to my Christmas music?
